Education and Empowerment
To teach a child is to empower them to change their immediate world. A Barefoot Mile Foundation works hard to help educate not only the disadvantaged youth, but to all community members who want to learn. By working closely within the community to create a free and public library, making school improvements, and even by bringing the first computer lab to the region, we are expanding individual opportunity.
Following the recent completion the community’s secondary school, contributions to the program focus on school supplies, school desks, reading materials, and supporting our pen-pal program. Long term priorities include building additional schools in the region to provide educational access to more rural students as well as bringing in additional computers to supplement the traditional curriculum with off-line educational content while at the same time familiarizing students with technology.
